More About René
René describes his professional mission as ensuring the success of others by providing distinctive experiences that foster lifelong achievements. He is currently focusing on the success of college students in the state as Executive Director of Education and Research with Louisiana’s Community and Technical College System (LCTCS).
Dr. Cintrón was most recently at Delgado Community College where he served in various positions including Instructor of Business, Assistant Dean of Business and Technology, and Executive Director of Planning and Research. He is an experienced leader in higher education, strategic planning, curriculum development, research, and quantitative analysis.
René holds a BS in Psychology from the University of West Alabama, MBA from American InterContinental University, and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management with a focus in leadership and nonprofit organizations. In addition, he earned his AAS in Emergency Management from the Community College of the Air Force after completing his Ph.D. in 2009.
Dr. Cintrón, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has been involved in curriculum development and teaching in military, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels; in-person, online, and blended (non-traditional) environments. He has been active in several research and implementation projects involving the evaluation of organizational effectiveness, ensuring student success in non-traditional learning, and accelerating student progression through to completion of credentials and degrees.
René was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, lived most of his youth in the island of Puerto Rico where his family is originally from, and graduated in 1994 from Grace King High School in Metairie, Louisiana. After attending the University of West Alabama, René moved to the New Orleans, LA area where he now resides. He has three teenage daughters with whom he enjoys their school and sports activities (competitive cheer, softball, and gymnastics).
