More About Sheila

Sheila is originally from Houma, Louisiana, and is an educator, social worker and attorney. Her primary focus is empowering others to reach their full potential, guiding them towards resources and resolutions. Heavily involved in community development, Sheila is a Founder of Resolve Mediation Group; she also serves on several nonprofit boards and professional organizations in the greater New Orleans area.

A lifelong learner, Sheila has two goals each day: (1) to make a stranger laugh, and (2) to be a better person today than she was yesterday. With a keen sense of humor and mean baking skills, she happily and genuinely engages others wherever she goes.

Completing her LL.M. in International and European Law with the Institute for European Studies in Brussels in 2014, Sheila’s current focus is on comparative EU/US law, as well as business law and its effective and efficient development, particularly in corporate social responsibility. Prior to her LL.M., Sheila earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans in Civil Law with an International Legal Studies Certificate, studying abroad in Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Paris. She earned her Master’s of Social Work from Tulane University and completed her undergrad at the University of New Orleans.

Sheila managed a partnership of law firms for 10 years, focusing on class actions and multi-district litigation prior to opening her own consulting firm in 2010. During that time and since then, Sheila has divided her time between the United States and Belgium serving clients and educational and community institutions in both locations. She teaches at University of Phoenix and Herzing University in New Orleans, and at Vesalius College and United Business Institutes in Brussels. Her commitment to community empowerment trumps all other interests, as she actively works to bring a voice to those who need it and to teach others the skills they need to excel in life.
